25-Year-Old Boat RESTORED to SHOWROOM CONDITION | 2001 Bayliner Capri 185 Gelcoat Restoration

Video Description: This 25-year-old Bayliner Capri 185 came into our shop heavily oxidized, faded, and lacking the deep shine it once had. After years of sun exposure and wear, the gelcoat had completely lost its gloss and clarity. At Champs Detailing, we took this boat through our full multi-step gelcoat restoration process, bringing it back to a true mirror reflection finish — the kind of transformation that makes it look better than when it left the factory. What We Did: • Full exterior rinse to remove loose debris • 2x foam bath pre-soak to safely break down dirt and contaminants • Professional 2-bucket hand wash for a scratch-free clean • Complete clay bar decontamination to remove embedded particles • Step 1: Heavy cut compound – removes deep oxidation and restores color • Step 2: Medium polish – enhances gloss, depth, and clarity • Machine-applied Malco Premium UV Resistant Wax for long-lasting protection • Trailer hand wash + rims cleaned + tire degreasing + tire shine • Full hand dry + air compression of seams to prevent water streaking • Streak-free window and detail finishing touches Process Time: Completed in 1 full day (20 man hours) The Result: 95% oxidation removal guaranteed, deep gloss restored, and a perfect mirror-like reflection across the entire gelcoat surface. This boat went from dull and chalky to a showroom-level finish that will last for years with proper maintenance.
