In 1984, Britain and China were in negotiations over the future of Hong Kong. Margaret Thatcher’s government briefly considered possibilities like continued British administration after 1997, or how the colony might be defended if China tried to take it by force. Wargame: Red Dragon even uses that real history as the basis of a full Commonwealth-China war. But could anything like that have really happened? This video starts with the real politics behind the Hong Kong dispute.
