Living in Barra, Scotland: Barra Airport has no runway. Barra Airport flights land on the beach at Traigh Mhor and follow the tide, and about 1,200 people call this Outer Hebrides island home. This travel documentary shows how people live where roads don't exist.
In this full-length travel documentary we cross to Barra the slow way and the fast way: the ferry into Castlebay and Kisimul Castle, the herring years, the Clearances of 1851, the Vatersay causeway and abandoned Mingulay, the wartime wreck that became Whisky Galore, and finally the Twin Otter landing on the sand of Traigh Mhor at Barra Airport. At the end we answer the question: why does the timetable at Barra Airport change every day? Would you fly in?
