"There is no bar of time, age or occupation for reading. It is a skill that can be developed at any stage of life" said Pooja Elangbam (IAS) who is also the founder of Book Club Imphal. Reading is a very powerful medium and one should be able to harness it. The culture, identity of humankind have been transferred for centuries in which reading and writing play major roles. A striking quote on reading culture by Ray Bradbury, an American author goes like this:
"You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture. Just get people to stop reading them". In an oppressed region like Manipur, the essence of reading is enormous to build a progressive future. Pooja Elangbam is an avid reader and consumes books like one eats food. She felt the importance of building and cultivating a reading culture in the region which eventually led her to found Book Club Imphal.
