BharatNatyam Pushpanjali

🌸 Pushpanjali: the traditional offering of flowers through dance 🌸 Watch this Bharatanatyam performance of Pushpanjali, the opening item of a classical dance recital. Pushpanjali means “an offering of flowers.” In this invocation, the dancer pays respect to the gods, the guru, the musicians and the audience. She also asks for blessings before the performance begins. It is usually the first piece in a Bharatanatyam repertoire (margam), and it is a good introduction to the style’s graceful hand gestures (mudras), pure dance movements (nritta), strong stance (araimandi) and rhythmic footwork (adavus). 👍 If you enjoyed it, please LIKE, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE for more Indian classical dance, festival and kids’ videos. 🔔 Tap the bell icon so you don’t miss the next video. 💬 Tell us in the comments: which Bharatanatyam item should we share next? 🙏 Namaste!
