The story of one of the greatest Upsets in Cricket History - Zimbabwe Destroying Australia in the 2007 T20 World Cup
The year was 2007. On one side stood Australia—the undisputed kings of cricket, fresh off a World Cup hat-trick, undefeated in 22 consecutive matches, and boasting a lineup of legendary superstars.
On the other side was Zimbabwe. A team in absolute ruins, plagued by political turmoil, player strikes, mass exodus, and stripped of their Test status.
On paper, this match was a 50:1 odds foregone conclusion.
For Australia- barely a warm-up.
But what followed became one of the greatest, most dramatic underdog stories in sporting history.
Where we had a political ban by the Australian Prime Minister ignited a sort of revolution in the Zimbabwean cricket
A movement that among other things - caused a full overhaul in the coaching system, under a new coach - Robin Brown
Who then designed a brilliant "slow-ball trap" on a sluggish pitch to dismantle Australia's indomitable, aggressive batting lineup.
And yet despite the best laid plans - when the world champions were still about to burst through the match
We have the incredible story of a young Brendan Taylor,
Someone who had practically walked away from his international career, had no reason to even stay in his country
But who had returned to become their sword and shield.
Who then, through the constant rain delays, through a chase that turned into a tactical chess match, with the Duckworth-Lewis par score changing six times in just four overs.
Ultimately came down to the last 2 balls, of the last over.
With world best limited overs baller - Nathan Bracken bowling, and a no name 21-year-old Taylor on strike
Did the underdogs pull off the miracle, or did the world champions assert their dominance? Watch the full story to find out!
