Ryukyu Underground Koza Riot (Depth Charge mix)

When Jonathan Taylor and I were putting together a list of people we wanted to remix us he was someone we had high on our list. Very sad to hear today (November 2024) of his passing. I used to play his first few singles ( ‘Shaolin Buddha Finger’, ’Bounty Killer’ and ‘Goal’ ) out in Newcastle and although pressed at 33rpm sounded killer at 45 too. Known for his ingenious use of sampling – notably from martial arts and spaghetti western films –and was instrumental in the development of trip-hop and big beat in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s.
