In this post, I’d like to show you what Ibota wax does and how I use it.
The record is very worn and can no longer be played with a bamboo stylus or a Burmese Colour stylus. Ibota wax is a natural, powder-like wax that forms a thin, washable lubricating layer in the groove and smooths out any rough patches.
Here you can clearly see how the tip of the stylus breaks very quickly.
I apply the powder sparingly and play the record once with a steel stylus. I then use the applicator to redistribute the remaining powder – which has been lifted from the grooves – across the record and play it with the bamboo stylus. If the result isn’t as desired, I repeat the process.
The video is unedited to demonstrate the entire process without any gaps.
I now use the wax on every record, even those in very good condition.
Thanks to @Burmesecolourneedles for the Ibota wax!
