No, we didn't misspell cookie...we are just telling it like it is in the cookbook. This fun little cookie comes from the Helen Corbitt Cooks published in 1957. It was really easy to make and very yummy (except for the orange peel). If you make this we suggest substituting the orange for candied ginger or candied fruit.
1 box (1 lb.) brown sugar
3 eggs
2 cups flour
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup candied fruit, dredged in a little bit of flour (preferably citron)
Mix together brown sugar and eggs. Add flour, fruit, and pecans. Spread in a buttered, rimmed baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
While still hot spread with a thin layer of icing made from powdered sugar and orange juice. Allow to cool and cut into squares.
