It didn't. Beneath the ash, something older lifted its head. "The Forge Is Silent" opens in the ruins of the First Forge, in the hour after the victory. The crown molds lie split in the dying flame. The command bells hang mute. The molten channels that fed every throne the world ever knelt to are cooling into stone. Stormforge Reign stands in the wreckage of the machine that made tyrants — and for one moment, everything they fought for is true. Then the ground answers. The ash keeps moving like something breathing under it, and thunder starts crawling beneath the land where no storm should be. The five feel it before they understand it: the smoke dividing, ghosts where traitors hide, walls giving way, names the dead can't say. Every crown they broke was only ever a lid. What those crowns were built to contain is still down there, and it has been waiting a very long time for the world to run out of kings. No crown, no law. No throne, no god.
