Black Bottom (-3) - Joe Candullo & his Everglades Orchestra

Joe Candullo's Everglades Orchestra was a working nightclub band. The Everglades was a restaurant/nightclub in New York very near Broadway. It was a standard practice amongst record companies of the day to augment the personnel for recording dates so as to include a hot musician or two if a band lacked them, or to give the performance a bit more punch since some nightclub or other working bands might be a bit smaller and the added studio ringers could add more punch to a performance as more confident soloists. Plaza issued this rendition of Black Bottom in at least four takes (-2,-3,-5, and -6), and the solos vary in each take. Take three seem not to have been documented before. Recorded some time in July of 1926.
