Jane Rogers: One Flower at a Time

Some people leave behind more than a body of work. They leave behind a way of seeing. Jane Rogers devoted herself to learning about Ohio’s wildflowers, photographing and documenting what she discovered, and teaching others to recognize the natural world around them. She also helped rescue plants from places threatened by development, giving them a chance to grow somewhere new. This Short follows the traces of her work, from the photographs she made for the Smithsonian to the native plants growing at the Heritage Garden at the Ohio Governor’s Residence. Jane’s story is a reminder that curiosity can become knowledge, knowledge can become action, and one person’s dedication can continue to make a difference long after the work itself is done.
