‘By Hook Or By Crook?’ | £70k Upgrade To Abu Hamza Family Home Savaged

Taxpayers are reportedly on the hook for a £70,000 upgrade to the five-bedroom council property occupied by the wife of convicted terrorist Abu Hamza. The Shepherd’s Bush home, reportedly valued at £1.7 million, is set to receive replacement windows and doors, solar panels and loft insulation through a publicly funded improvement programme. Conservative councillor Adrian Pascu-Tulbure says the case shows why lifetime secure tenancies must be reconsidered, asking whether one resident should remain hooked up with such a large council property while families wait for suitable housing. Although the council is legally required to administer the relevant funding without favour, Adrian  argues that politicians cannot continue letting taxpayers foot the bill by hook or by crook.
