What to do with my Amaryllis bulb after it blooms

Amaryllis bulbs can live for 75 years given the right conditions. After the blooms fade cut off only the flowering stalk; leave the foliage. Treat the foliage as a houseplant. The bulb needs to replenish its depleted reserves in order to bloom next season. The pods are ripe when the pods turn yellow and start to open. You can start new amaryllis from seeds. It may take between 3 to 5 yrs to reach blooming size.
