AU: When Dazai and Madoka were younger they went to the same schools. Due to Madoka‘s persistence that Dazai, “looked like he needed some friends.”, they became friends, from preschool throughout the beginning of 8th grade. That’s when Dazais family moved to Yokohama and the rest of cannon occurred. One day Dazai (age 15) was assigned a case of a strange woman who was found lurking over the dead body of one of the mafias targets. (The body was a magical girl that Madoka was coming to save.) The woman/Madoka found lurking, was brought in and Dazai went to interrogate her. He immediately recognized her as Madoka. They both explained their situations and began to become friends again. ( Thier friends because Dazai is hoping he might be able to find a reason to live in Madoka, and Madoka is hoping to save Dazai.)
