Excel for Business - What You Don't Measure, You Can't Manage

In this episode of Excel for Business, we take a practical look at how business owners can use Excel to measure the health of a company instead of relying on gut instinct alone. Using a fictional Northwind business example, I walk through a Business Health Scorecard covering financial stability, operational efficiency, visibility and marketing, customer retention, leadership dependency, and scalability readiness. The goal isn't simply to build another spreadsheet. The goal is to understand what the numbers are telling you about the business. We look at how KPIs can help answer questions like: • Is revenue actually growing? • Are profit margins improving? • How much cash runway does the business have? • Are operations becoming more efficient? • Are customers staying? • How dependent is the business on the owner? • Is the company actually becoming more scalable? • What should a business owner or CFO be watching before making the next major decision? The spreadsheet used in this video is designed as an educational example to demonstrate how financial and operational data can be brought together into a business health scorecard.
