Florida Released SCOUT SNAKES To Find Its LARGEST PYTHON EVER - What They Found Shocked Scientists In December 2021, biologists from the Conservancy of Southwest Florida followed a radio-tagged male Burmese python named Dionysus through the Picayune Strand State Forest to a female of about 17.7 feet and 215 pounds, the heaviest python ever recorded in Florida. Since 2013, the program's scout snakes have helped remove about 1,750 pythons from the western Everglades. In this wildlife documentary, we follow the Burmese python invasion of the Everglades, from escaped and released pets to vanishing raccoons and rabbits, the 2013 Python Challenge, the record 19-foot python caught in Big Cypress, and how scientists turned the snakes' own breeding instincts against them.
