Takedowns in BJJ are complicated, but the problem probably isn't that you need to learn more takedowns. You're likely trying to solve every standing problem with the same tool: your hands.
Your body gives you four major tools for taking someone down: your hands, head, hips, and feet. If you're already relying almost entirely on your hands, the other three may be exactly what your takedowns are missing.
In this video, I break down how each tool contributes to standing grappling, why head position can completely change a wrestling exchange, how your hips can unbalance or disrupt an opponent, and how your feet can create opportunities without needing a perfect sweep or throw.
More importantly, you'll learn when to switch between them. If your opponent shuts down one tool, attack with another. You don't need to master every takedown in Judo or Wrestling—you need enough options to make your opponent react and enough awareness to attack what they're not defending.
