Aki — Japan Special Tier X Battleship. A large hybrid battleship and a hypothetical option considered for converting a Yamato-class battleship into an aircraft-carrying ship. After the loss of four aircraft carriers at Midway in 1942, Japan found itself in desperate need of new ships of this type. At the same time, the prospect of a classic major engagement between battle fleets was becoming increasingly unlikely.
