Most residence permits only work if you live in the country. These are 10 countries where you can get residency now and keep living where you are, plus the passports you can buy outright, with what each one costs and what it takes to keep it. Work with us: https://fondaco.co/go?utm_source=yout... A plan B residency gives you a second country that has to let you in, which is why so many people wanted one after borders closed in 2020. Cyprus gives non-EU citizens permanent residency for €300,000 plus VAT invested in a new home, a Cyprus company or a Cyprus fund, with €50,000 a year of income from abroad and one visit every two years. The UAE Golden Visa runs for 10 years, isn't lost when you live abroad and comes through AED 2 million (about $545,000) in Dubai property or a AED 2 million bank deposit. South Africa wants no investment at all: a net worth of R12 million (about $735,000) gets you permanent residency as a financially independent person, kept with one entry every three years. Thailand's privilege visa costs from 900,000 baht for 5 years up to 5 million baht for 20 years, while the long-term resident visa needs $1 million in assets and $500,000 invested in Thailand and exempts your foreign income. Indonesia's golden visa gives 5 years for $350,000 or 10 years for $700,000 in bonds, shares, funds or a state-bank deposit, with no minimum stay. Mexico doesn't sell residency, but about $7,400 a month of income or about $298,000 in savings gets you permanent residency that never expires. Panama's qualified investor visa gives permanent residency straight away from $300,000 in property, $500,000 in securities or $750,000 in a fixed deposit, kept with one visit every two years. Paraguay is the cheapest: the standard route needs no investment, and its 2026 investor route starts at $70,000. The Bahamas gives permanent residency for a $1 million home held for 10 years, with no income, capital gains or inheritance tax. New Zealand's Active Investor Plus visa asks for NZ$5 million (about US$2.8 million) for three years and only 21 days in the country, and new migrants get 48 months of tax-free foreign income. Finally, citizenship by investment: five Caribbean countries from $200,000 to $250,000, Vanuatu from $130,000 and Nauru from $90,000, and why the EU's push to phase these programs out by June 2028 can put their visa-free travel at risk. If you're an entrepreneur, high earner or investor who isn't ready to move yet, the right plan B depends on your passport, your money and whether you might move one day, and if you live in a high-tax country now, that has to be handled first. Fondaco helps business owners legally restructure where they live, where their companies sit, and where their profit lands. We work with entrepreneurs, operators and investors who want to cut their tax bill, secure a second residency and keep their options open, without breaking anything or getting caught by their home country's exit rules. We build and run the whole structure: the entity, the tax residency, the directors and shareholders, the banking, the payroll, and the order it all has to happen in. Compliant structures used as written, with licensed professionals executing the filings. And because we're not tied to a single country, we can tell you when the answer is somewhere else — or when it's to stay where you are. Become Our Client: https://fondaco.co/go?utm_source=yout...
