One day in the Bulwang Caves of Mabinay, Negros Oriental, Philippines, 7 April 2026. We followed a local guide from a sunlit forest trail into total darkness... and back out into the light. A coffee trail through the limestone hills, a cave whose roof has fallen in so the forest leans down to look inside, a dark zone lit only by the light we carried, and a gallery where water is still building the stone, a drop at a time. This is the narrated edition: an AI narrator tells the story over an original score. CHAPTERS 0:00 Cold open: drops in the dark 0:22 Light: the trail 1:35 Light: the threshold 2:20 Light: the skylight 3:20 Darkness: twilight zone 3:49 Darkness: into the dark 4:28 Darkness: the deep 6:02 Darkness: false daylight 6:20 Darkness: the second descent 7:06 Wonder: the gallery 7:54 Wonder: the light passes 9:20 Wonder: the mark of a hand 10:09 Emergence: into the light 11:11 Coda: where the light falls in ABOUT THE CAVES "Bulwang" is said to mean "big hole". (SunStar; showcaves.com) The caves are gated and visits are guided, starting at the Bulwang Caves Information Center, about 10 km south of Mabinay town. (showcaves.com) Mabinay is nicknamed the "Caves Capital of the Philippines". (Wikipedia) Caves have three zones of light (entrance, twilight, dark), and the film moves through them in order. (WorldAtlas; caveconservation.com) Stalactites grow on average only about 0.1-0.25 mm a year, so a single inch can take a century or more. (EBSCO; NSS; US NPS) PLEASE DON'T TOUCH Hold the railings, never the stone. Skin oils stain cave formations and can stop them growing (US National Park Service). The brown handprint in the film was left, our guide told us, by a visitor's touch. In the Philippines, cave formations are also protected by law (RA 9072). CREDITS Filmed at the Bulwang Caves, Mabinay, Negros Oriental, Philippines, on 7 April 2026. Shot on two Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra phones. Original score, sound effects and narration voice made with ElevenLabs AI. Edited in Remotion. All footage and photos are real, and nothing on screen is AI-generated; the edit adds colour grading, slow motion, split screens, titles and transitions. #BulwangCaves #Philippines #CaveDocumentary #NegrosOriental #Mabinay
