Session 25 of Amok in Waterdeep The party—Ian, Dabs, Bjorn, Cassius, and Zen—marched back into Xanathar’s lair to tie off loose ends after last session’s beholder beatdown. In the fighting pits they confronted Ahmaegro, Nar’l Xibrindas, and a swarm of bandits while declaring that the Xanathar Guild now reports to Zen, “the new Xanathar.” Nar’l answered with a choking Cloudkill and tried to bolt, but Meloon Wardragon locked horns with Ahmaegro as the crew carved through the rest. One bandit, Binko, bent the knee to Zen. In the cells they freed a sharp-tongued half-ogre named Groz and a stalwart minotaur, Umpok—both hired on the spot as casino bouncers—alongside kidnapped Waterdavians (Xia Shung, Claudio Benzreck, and Arthright Grayfalcon), the drow Raelyn Auvryndar, halfling fixer Samara Strongbones, and a ragged Captain Hyustus Staget. Realizing they’d spoken to “Staget” just yesterday, the team uncovered a troubling truth: an impostor—likely a doppelganger—has been walking the North Ward in his name. In Xanathar’s private chamber the crew discovered the fabled Community Chest—an extradimensional vault split between two linked chests. Items stashed in one can be retrieved from the other, making it an ideal (and dangerous) smuggling conduit. Clues point to the twin half residing in Skullport. After a well-earned long rest at Trollskull Manor, the path ahead is clear: next session, the party descends to Skullport to locate and secure the other half of the chest—and with it, the Guild’s most valuable pipeline.
