Amatista Ledges - FULL TRAIL DRIVE 40 Minutes

Amatista Ledges was rough. "What happened to my tail light?" and "why is my fender hanging loose" rough. The trail is more like a long pile of rocks the size of cinder blocks, and although the obstacles aren't difficult, the narrow walls and jutting trees force you into damage and leave little room to maneuver. This was really grit your teeth and bear it trail. Way in the back of Prehistoric Trackways National Monument outside of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Amatista Ledges is a Jeep Badge of Honor Trail that only the dedicated will seek out. Getting to the trail included one of the tallest and steepest waterfall drops I've been down (see my Big Jim video). My tail light is still hanging on with Gorilla Tape.
