Final Fantasy VII Medley | Good Beats x Project Fusion

This is a brand-new Final Fantasy VII Medley arrangement, of music by Nobuo Uematsu, performed by the Good Beats Ensemble! Recorded live at Capital One Hall in Tysons, Virginia on September 13, 2026, this medley was arranged specifically for our ensemble and was featured as a world premiere on our concert. The medley follows the musical opening hours of Final Fantasy VII, with the tracks: “Midgar, City of Mako,” “Bombing Mission,” “Mako Reactor,” and “Let the Battles Begin!” Originally released for the PlayStation in 1997, Final Fantasy VII’s soundtrack wasn’t recorded audio at all: Uematsu had every note played by the console’s own internal sound chip, which could handle 24 channels at once compared to the Super Nintendo’s 8. The soundtrack album still climbed to #3 on the Japanese music charts, the first time music from a video game had reached them. Fun fact about the setting: the team originally imagined the game taking place in an alternate New York City before creating Midgar, whose name comes from Norse mythology. Good Beats Ensemble is a chamber ensemble based in the Washington, DC area performing video game music, film and television scores, classical repertoire, as well as pop arrangements.
