Manufactured dependency doesn’t always begin with control. Sometimes it begins with help. One person handles the money, makes the difficult decisions, solves the problems, offers reassurance, and slowly becomes the person everything runs through. Over time, support can shift into reliance — and reliance can make independence feel harder than it once did. In this episode of The Con Mind, we explore how manufactured dependency can develop through financial control, reduced autonomy, self-doubt, disrupted work or opportunities, and increasing reliance on one person for everyday decisions and stability. The video also looks at an important distinction: dependency itself is not unhealthy. The danger appears when someone’s ability to act independently begins to shrink while another person becomes increasingly necessary. Because the most powerful form of dependency may not be when someone tells you: “You can’t survive without me.” It’s when, eventually, you begin to believe: “I can’t survive without them.” Watch next: ▶ How Criminals Convince Themselves They Did Nothing Wrong    • What Self-Justification Looks Like   ▶ Why Innocent People Confess to Crimes They Didn’t Commit    • Why Innocent People Confess to Crimes They...   Every deception leaves a pattern.
