What does the ground look like on other worlds? A calm 1-hour journey through every kind of ground we have touched: the Moon, Mars, the asteroids Eros, Bennu and Dimorphos, Comet 67P and Titan — in real spacecraft photos and video from Surveyor, Apollo, Viking, Pathfinder, Spirit, Opportunity, Phoenix, Curiosity, InSight, Perseverance, Ingenuity, NEAR Shoemaker, OSIRIS-REx, Rosetta, Philae, DART and Huygens. Every image is real. No narration — short true facts on screen and a calm soundtrack. You will see Perseverance's whole landing from its own cameras, hear the real wind on Mars, watch the ground of an asteroid give way under a spacecraft, follow Rosetta down to a comet, and land on Titan, the farthest ground ever touched. Why did the first photo on Mars show the lander's own foot? Is anything moving on Mars right now? What if the ground doesn't hold you? Chapters 0:00 A landing on Mars 1:22 Our Moon: the first footsteps 7:04 Viking 1: the first photo on Mars (1976) 9:22 Pathfinder and Sojourner (1997) 11:38 Spirit: dust devils in Gusev crater 14:14 Opportunity: almost 15 years on Mars 19:58 Phoenix: ice near the north pole 21:48 Curiosity: Gale crater and Mount Sharp 26:20 InSight: marsquakes 28:32 Perseverance: the whole landing, and the wind on Mars 33:30 Ingenuity: flying on Mars 37:20 Eros: the first asteroid landing 38:50 Bennu: the ground that didn't hold 40:08 Comet 67P: Philae and Rosetta 45:54 Dimorphos: DART's impact 46:57 Titan: the farthest ground 50:04 Home How this film was made: real NASA/ESA images and video, cropped, framed and moved by Lumora. Short NASA movies with only a few frames were smoothed by filling in motion between the real frames, and some sequences are sped up or slowed down (labelled on screen). The Titan descent is NASA/ESA's visualization built from real Huygens images (labelled on screen).
