Standard of living
Standard of living refers to the level of material comfort, resources, and economic well-being that a person, family, or society enjoys.
In simple terms:
Your standard of living is the quality and level of life that your available resources enable you to live.
It includes things such as:
Income and purchasing power — what you can afford.
Housing — the quality, size, safety, and location of your home.
Food — the quantity, quality, and variety you can regularly afford.
Healthcare — access to medical care and medicines.
Education — access to quality education.
Transportation — the ease and quality of getting around.
Utilities and technology — electricity, water, internet, appliances, etc.
Leisure and recreation — what you can afford to do beyond basic necessities.
Financial security — savings, investments, and ability to handle unexpected expenses.
What does it mean to “go up” in standard of living?
To go up in standard of living means that your capacity to meet your needs, enjoy comforts, and access opportunities increases.
