I JUST WANT YOU is a worship song born from a simple prayer: Jesus, more than anything You can give me, I want You.
There comes a place in our walk with God where worship becomes more than asking for answers, breakthrough, provision, or blessing. Our hearts begin to understand that the greatest gift God has ever given us is Himself.
When everything else grows quiet, when our plans are surrendered, and when there is nothing left to prove, the cry of the heart becomes:
“Jesus, I just want You.”
David expressed this longing when he wrote:
“One thing I have desired of the LORD,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the LORD,
And to inquire in His temple.”
— Psalm 27:4 NKJV
This is the heart of worship—not merely seeking the hand of God, but seeking His face.
Jesus is not simply the One who gives us peace.
He is our peace.
He is not simply the One who gives us life.
He is our life.
He is not simply the way to something better.
He is the treasure.
And when we finally see Him for who He is, surrender stops being about what we're giving up and becomes a response to Who we've found.
So wherever you are as you listen—whether you're worshipping with joy, walking through a difficult season, waiting for an answer, or simply longing to know Jesus more deeply—may this become your prayer:
Lord, strip away every distraction.
Quiet every competing desire.
Teach my heart to treasure You above everything else.
If I have You, I have enough.
Jesus… I just want You.
Scripture
Psalm 27:4 — One thing I have desired of the LORD...to behold the beauty of the LORD.
Psalm 73:25–26 — “Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.”
Philippians 3:8 — Paul counts everything loss for the excellence of knowing Christ Jesus.
Luke 10:41–42 — “One thing is needed,” and Mary chose to remain at the feet of Jesus.
John 6:68 — “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
Matthew 13:44 — The kingdom of heaven is like treasure worth joyfully surrendering everything to possess.
If this song becomes your prayer, leave these four words in the comments:
“Jesus, I want You.”
May we become a people who seek His presence more than His presents, His face more than His hand, and Jesus above everything.
