Walt Disney World changing too much—or is this exactly the kind of progress Walt Disney wanted?
After nearly a year away from YouTube, I’m back at Magic Kingdom to talk about the upcoming changes to Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress, one of the few remaining Walt Disney World attractions with such a direct connection to Walt himself.
I’m not against change. In fact, I’m excited to see Walt incorporated into the attraction, I’m glad “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” is staying, and I absolutely believe the final scene needed an update.
But when familiar voices, scenes and details that generations of families have experienced together begin to change, at what point do we lose some of what made these classic Disney attractions so special?
Walt famously believed Disneyland would never be completed—but he also described it as a place where “age relives fond memories of the past.” I think there has to be room for both progress and preservation.
This one is personal for me. My kids grew up experiencing these attractions with me, and someday I hope they can experience some of those same Disney traditions with their own children.
What do YOU think? Is Disney doing the right thing by continuing to reimagine its classic attractions, or are there certain pieces of Walt Disney history that should be preserved? Tell me in the comments—I’m genuinely curious whether longtime and newer Disney fans see this differently.
And after Magic Kingdom, I’m headed to EPCOT for opening day of the 2026 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, so stay tuned for that video!
