VOCES8 | Classic FM - Away in a Manger

The simple beauty of the Nativity is reflected in this tender arrangement of William J. Kirkpatrick's carol 'Away in a Manger'. Arranged by VOCES8 arranger in residence, Jim Clements, the work features among many other performances in the VOCES8 Foundation's online festival, LIVE From London Christmas. TEXT Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little lord Jesus laid down his sweet head. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay, The little lord Jesus asleep on the hay. The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes, But little lord Jesus no crying he makes. I love thee, lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, And stay by my bedside till morning is nigh. Be near me, lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay Close by me for ever and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, And fit us for heaven to live with thee there. ____________ VOCES8 is the no. 1 streamed classical vocal ensemble in the world.
