A flash, brighter than the sun. You're at home, about 5 km from the city centre, and a nuclear bomb has just exploded above it. In about 11 seconds a wall of air will slam into your house; in about 15 minutes radioactive dust starts to fall. So what would actually keep you alive? We build a bunker one problem at a time: earth and concrete against the light, a roof that holds when your house falls on it (Swiss law: about 10 tonnes on every square metre), a bent entrance and a steel door against the shockwave, blast valves that slam shut in a few thousandths of a second, three filters and a little extra air pressure against fallout, and the 7-10 rule behind every "two weeks of supplies". Then the true story of Eizo Nomura, who survived 170 metres from the Hiroshima bomb in a basement. The 3D shots are a simulation of an illustrative shelter, not a construction plan; the bomb, cloud and Hiroshima shots are AI-generated illustrations and are labelled on screen. Numbers are simplified from the sources below. This explains how protection works; it is not a forecast. For real emergency guidance follow your local civil-defence authority (in the US: ready.gov). The short version: get inside, stay inside, stay tuned. Could YOU last 14 days down there? Comment YES or NO. Inner Mechanics - how everything works, from the inside.
