Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum — the dhikr the Prophet ﷺ turned to when distress overwhelmed him, and the words he taught his beloved daughter Fatimah to say every morning and evening. If your heart feels restless, heavy, or anxious tonight, stay with this Sufi dhikr and let it slowly bring you back to peace.
In this video, you will hear a calm, slow recitation of Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum (يَا حَيُّ يَا قَيُّومُ) — "O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all that exists." Two of Allah's most beautiful names, repeated gently, the way the people of dhikr have recited them for centuries. Listen with your heart, not just your ears.
🤍 WHY THIS DHIKR?
Anas ibn Malik (RA) narrated that whenever something distressed the Prophet ﷺ, he would say: "Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum, bi rahmatika astaghith" — O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek help. (Sunan at-Tirmidhi)
The Prophet ﷺ also taught Fatimah (RA) to say this dua every morning and evening, asking Allah to set right all her affairs and never leave her to herself, even for the blink of an eye. (an-Nasa'i, al-Hakim)
Some early scholars also held that al-Hayy al-Qayyum is Allah's Greatest Name (al-Ism al-A'zam), based on a narration in Sunan Ibn Majah — the Name by which, when Allah is called, He answers.
📿 THE FULL DUA
Transliteration:
Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum, bi rahmatika astaghith, aslih li sha'ni kullahu, wa la takilni ila nafsi tarfata 'ayn.
Meaning:
O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all existence, by Your mercy I seek help. Set right all of my affairs, and do not leave me to myself even for the blink of an eye.
🌙 HOW TO LISTEN
Use headphones and find a quiet place
Listen before sleep, after salah, or whenever anxiety and overthinking won't let you rest
Place your hand on your heart and repeat slowly with the recitation
Reflect on the meaning: Allah is Al-Hayy, the One who never dies, and Al-Qayyum, the One who holds everything together — including your heart
This dhikr is for anyone who is tired, anxious, grieving, waiting for a door to open, or simply searching for inner peace and closeness to Allah.
