Galactic Academy Had Rule All Cadets to Disarm Before Coming She Had Many Weapons They Didn't Find Every cadet who enters the Synod's Academy on the desert crossroads world of Kakappeep must pass the Gate of Disarmament. Caitriona Grangeman walks through the scanning arch with a hairpin, a spoon, a pair of bootlaces and fourteen other ordinary things the machine never notices. Only one person at the gate has counted them all: Hira Lyndale, a translator born in the bazaar who speaks both Thokrok and Chatchol and trusts neither side with her secrets. Placed in a squad with sworn enemies from two ancient rival peoples, Caitriona turns them into allies one dry oatcake at a time. But when Hira reads a line of forgotten script on the Academy's most sacred tablet, she realises that a four-hundred-year war may rest on a single mistranslation, and that the keeper of the Archives will do anything to keep it hidden. A story about interpreters, hairpins, hidden vaults and the quiet power of kindness, with plenty of alien misunderstandings along the way. Settle in and enjoy the ride. #HFY #SciFiStory #HumansAreSpaceOrcs #AlienAcademy #Deathworlders #ScienceFiction #SciFiNarration #StoryTime #AlienStory #SpaceOpera
