franco surrender

This was my first time hearing Franco’s original lineup on “Song for the Suspect,” and what made the track so interesting to me was the tension between all the different musical identities in the band. You can hear that these are musicians bringing instincts, habits, and stylistic fingerprints from different places. At times it almost feels like a supergroup figuring out what it wants to be in real time. And I mean that as a compliment. That push and pull is what gives the song its personality. It never feels completely predictable, and the different influences keep rubbing against each other in a way that creates energy rather than confusion. For me, that tension is what drives the whole track.
