When the Logitech Circle View Doorbell was announced, I was excited to check it out to see if it was the best video doorbell 2021 has to offer - one of the main smart home tech components people look to upgrade to. HomeKit Secure Video is a way to store that footage on Apple's servers with the peace of mind that it won't be seen by anyone else – not even Apple. When footage is captured, it gets encrypted end-to-end and is then stored in iCloud. Once there, only you and anyone you invite to view will be able to see it. The most important part here though is that the encryption happens on your local HomeKit hub. When looking at the specs, it supports Logitech’s TrueView video with a 160-degree field of view, high definition 1200x1600 video, support for high dynamic range, and color night vision. Under the camera there’s an LED light strip that’s able to light up an area up to 6 feet away. You also get two way audio, allowing you to have a back and forth conversation with anyone at standing at your door, with acoustic echo cancellation. You can use two way audio from your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, or Apple TV, all from the Home app on the respective devices. Facial recognition is also included, using the people album in your iCloud Photo Library to identify guests. The Logitech Circle View HomeKit Secure Video Doorbell is made with a high-quality plastic build with a clean and minimal black design and a glass faceplate on the front, and has an IP65 water and dust resistance rating. The back of the doorbell has two black pogo pins, which snap into one of the two included mounting brackets - straight or angled at 20 degrees, depending on what viewing position you need - I definitely needed the angled mount and appreciated that it was included in the box.
