President Amin warned Baganda not to harm Prince Mutebi by declaring him their Kabaka It should have been automatic that from burying Sir Edward Muteesa, his son Ronnie Mutebi would ascend Buganda’s throne as the new king on 31 March 1971. But when the suggestion was made to President Idi Amin Dada, he exploded and warned Baganda Elders that they were putting the 16-year old Mutebi in grave danger. It took another 22 years to eliminate this danger to Prince Mutebi and only after Yoweri Museveni and his NRM took charge of Uganda’s affairs. 31 March 1971 was the day Prince Mutebi failed to become Kabaka of his people… #IddiAmin #UgandanHistory #Buganda
