[Verse 1] Two men were walking home With grief in their shoes The tomb was empty But they still felt the news Their hopes lay buried In the dust on that road When a stranger drew near And asked what they’d been told [Verse 2] They spoke of Jesus How He suffered and died How all their bright dreams Had turned cold inside They said, “We had thought He’d be the one” But sorrow can blind you When the day feels done [Pre-Chorus] Then He walked beside them Through the ache and the rain He spoke of the prophets And He named their pain Though their eyes were veiled Still He stayed right there Leading lost hearts home With a patient care [Chorus] Jesus walked with us On the broken road Jesus walked with us Carried every load (He walked with us) He warmed our hearts (He warmed our hearts) Jesus walked with us And led us to the truth [Verse 3] At dusk they begged Him “Stay a while tonight” He took the bread in His hands And blessed it in the light Then in that moment Their eyes were opened wide The stranger was the Savior Right there by their side [Pre-Chorus] All at once they knew Him In the breaking of bread The fear fell off them Like shadows from their heads What grief had hidden Love revealed instead And every empty promise Was made alive again [Chorus] Jesus walked with us On the broken road Jesus walked with us Carried every load (He walked with us) He warmed our hearts (He warmed our hearts) Jesus walked with us And led us to the truth [Bridge] When life leaves us puzzled And the plans unwind When sorrow sits heavy And peace is hard to find You are still beside us Closer than we know Clearing up our questions As we learn to go [Final Chorus] Jesus walked with us On the broken road Jesus walked with us Carried every load (He walked with us) He warmed our hearts (He warmed our hearts) Jesus walked with us And led us to the truth Jesus walked with us And made us new
