Hamsadhwani Carnatic Music Academy Nebraska Chapter - Thematic Concert Series 2021- Margazhi in Midwest - Week 3 of 5 - Harikesanallur Muthaiyya Bhagawadar Artist: Vainika (Veena Artist) : Rekha Natarajan Rekha Natarajan: Born in Mesa, Arizona, and raised in a family of music lovers, Rekha Natarajan was drawn towards Carnatic music at a very young age. She started veena lessons at the age of eight with Smt. Uma Janakiram in Mesa. She continued further training under the guidance of Vainika Vidwan late Sri. A. Anantharaman Iyer, at the Guru Guha Gana Vidyalaya, in Calcutta, India. She has also had Carnatic vocal training for several years under Smt. Padma Sivaswamy, In addition to being a solo artist, she has accompanied live ensembles for Bharatanatyam/Kuchipudi arangetrams, light music, and fusion bands. Rekha is currently a full-time lecturer in the Kansas State University mathematics department. She also teaches veena & vocal music in the Little Apple (Manhattan, KS), where she resides with her husband and two sons
