Besides leading hot small jazz groups, Joe Venuti also had a larger recording band, mostly made up of freelance musicians, but for this session it was made up from members from Paul Whiteman's band. These OKeh recordings were first rate hot dance and jazz sides. Chant Of The Jungle was a featured song in the 1929 MGM sound film "Untamed" starring Joan Crawford in her first talkie. Recorded in New York on October 16, 1929.
