Webinar: Part 1 – Unbound and Subgrade Materials Characterisation (25 May 2020)

SPARC Hub organised two webinar training sessions (Part 1 & Part 2) in partnership with IPWEA Victoria and City of Monash. Part 1 session includes the basic properties of unbound and subgrade materials, pavement material requirements, compaction behaviour for different soils, strength and stiffness of the materials and associated laboratory testing and distress mechanisms under traffic. Speaker: Professor Jayantha Kodikara is Director of ARC Smart Pavements Research Hub – SPARC and is the Deputy Head of Monash Civil Engineering. He obtained his bachelor degree from Sri Lanka and his PhD from Monash University. He has worked in academia for over 25 years and in industry for about 4 years. He is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of Engineers Australia. He has undertaken research on a diverse range of topics including on road pavements and pipelines, publishing over 300 peer-reviewed articles. He has received several awards for innovation and industry collaboration including International Water Association Award in 2016, B/HERT Award in 2016 and ARRB Research Impact Award in 2019.
