Cycling Manitoba | Cycling Solo Across Canada, Ep.22

In this episode, I ride across the province of Manitoba. I meet multiple cyclists along the way, on the road, at campgrounds, and at Warmshowers hosts' places. People continue demonstrating incredible kindness by inviting me into their homes, approaching me to give me food, and offering great advice. Instead of riding along Hwy 16, I travel south to join Hwy 2, the Red Coat Trail. I would not recommend this highway for cyclists as it's very busy and doesn't have much of a shoulder. At a provincial park campground, I am visited by a pesky raccoon at night who insists on stealing my food. After a lot of stomping and screaming, I use my bear spray. I get my pannier back. I stop at Saint Claude for the night and meet Josiane and Robert - a couple who host travelers that pass through the village. If you pass through this village, ask around for them. They will open up their home to you. I arrive in Winnipeg and spend a few days at a Warmshowers accommodation. The host isn't home, but that didn't stop her from hosting me. Incredible generosity and trust. I do a quick tour of the City of Winnipeg on the day when Roger's internet connectivity failed and created mayham for anyone with a POS machine. It's good I had some cash with me. I visit Woodcock Cycle Works, a bike shop and a cafe, and they do some preventative maintenance on the Sutra. I spend one more day in Manitoba and end up at a campground in Prawda, where I am caught in a rainstorm overnight and realize that my new tent leaks worse than the tent I had just returned in Calgary. Troubleshooting begins with Sea to Summit.
