The Story of Havaldar Hangpan Dada - The Ultimate Sacrifice for the Nation

Havaldar Hangpan Dada was a brave soldier in the Assam Regiment of the Indian Army. In recognition of his exceptional valor, he was posthumously awarded the Ashoka Chakra, India's highest peacetime military honor, in August 2016. Born in Borduria village, Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh, Dada demonstrated his courage early on, saving a friend from drowning during his childhood. He enlisted in the 3 Para (SF) on 28th October 1997. In 2005, he was transferred to the Assam Regimental Centre and later joined the 4th Battalion, Assam Regiment on 24th January 2008. Seeking further opportunities for service, he requested a transfer to the 26th Rashtriya Rifles for operations in Kupwara district, Jammu and Kashmir.
