A bright autumn drive from Linz to Passau: under the new Donautalbrücke, along the Danube through Ottensheim, across the Eferding basin, through golden woods and under rock walls on the Nibelungenstraße, past the abbey at Engelhartszell and over the border into Bavaria, ending on the bridge over the Inn with Passau's cathedral ahead. Our first drive across a border. It starts on the Rudolfstraße in Linz on a clear late-October morning and follows the Danube west: first the river road to Ottensheim, then the flat farmland of the Eferding basin, then the Nibelungenstraße as it climbs into the woods of the Aschach valley and drops back to the river at Schlögen. From there the road hugs the Danube past Engelhartszell and its Trappist abbey, past the ships moored along the bank, and crosses into Germany. The drive ends in Passau, crossing the Inn with the three green towers of St. Stephen's Cathedral straight ahead. Real time, no cuts inside the drive. Vorbei an Engelhartszell mit seinem Trappistenkloster geht es über die Grenze nach Deutschland. Die Fahrt endet in Passau, über den Inn, mit den drei grünen Türmen des Stephansdoms geradeaus.
