Hello everyone, welcome to SA Today on 6 November 2026. Today’s South Africa video opens with thunderstorm and lightning strikes along from N3 traffic near Ashburton and Mariannhill in Durban. Rain along the N4 near Machadodorp, to the beaches of Umdloti, Shelly Beach, Hartenbos, Kleinmond and De Kelders. Watch wild horses cross the road near Kaapsehoop, Heyna in Kruger and elephants in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. Scenes from Addo Elephant National Park, and everyday moments across Gauteng, the Free State, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape. We also visit Cape Town and the West Coast, catch airport activity at OR Tambo and Cape Town International, and see the China Excel arrive in Saldanha. Follow each stop on the South Africa map, with location captions and temperature readings in Celsius and Fahrenheit.
South Africa Weather for Today & Tomorrow Update
South Africa faces a dynamic shift in weather as a powerful high-pressure system teams up with a deep upper-air trough—potentially developing into a cut-off low—to bring unsettled and locally severe conditions to several provinces. Significant rainfall is forecast for the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Highveld, where the risk of severe thunderstorms, heavy downpours, and flooding remains high, potentially leading to damage to property, roads, and infrastructure. The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 4 warning for severe storms over parts of Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, with threats of flooding, hail, strong winds, and disruptions to power and communications. Yellow Level 2 warnings extend across Mpumalanga, Limpopo, Gauteng, North West, and the Free State for similar storm hazards, and disruptive rainfall may impact the Wild Coast and its interior in the Eastern Cape. While these regions brace for wet and stormy weather, hot conditions will persist in the north, and temperatures are expected to climb across the western parts of South Africa. Residents are urged to remain alert for changing weather, heed official warnings, and take precautions against both flooding and fire hazards, as extremely high fire danger continues in some northern and central areas of South Africa.
