⚠️ HIGH SURF WARNING: Dangerous surf is rapidly building across Hawaii as Hurricane Lowell sends a powerful south-southwest swell toward the islands.
The swell is expected to peak tonight, with south shore surf reaching:
• Oahu: 15–25 feet
• Maui County: 12–20 feet
• Big Island: 12–16 feet
• Big Island west shores: 12–16 feet
A High Surf Warning remains in effect through 6 PM Tuesday for south-facing shores statewide and west-facing shores of the Big Island.
East-facing shores are also under a High Surf Advisory as swells from former Tropical Storm Karina combine with wind swell from Lowell.
Ocean water may surge across beaches, coastal areas and roadways. Powerful rip currents, longshore currents and large breaking waves are expected.
Stay well back from the shoreline and avoid entering the ocean in affected areas.
