Vitamin B12 is essential for healthy red blood cells, the nervous system and normal brain function. A deficiency can develop gradually, and the early signs may be easy to overlook. Persistent tiredness, tingling in the hands and feet, memory changes, poor concentration, balance problems and a sore or smooth tongue can all be warning signs.

In this video, Hansaji explains the symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency, why they occur and what steps you can take to address them.
What you will learn:
1. How B12 deficiency can cause anaemia, weakness, breathlessness, headaches and pale skin.
2. Why tingling, numbness and burning sensations may indicate nerve involvement.
3. How a deficiency can affect memory, concentration and balance.
4. Why a sore, red or smooth tongue and mouth ulcers deserve attention.
5. Why vegetarians need to pay attention to B12 intake, as most unfortified plant foods are not reliable sources.
6. How absorption problems, pernicious anaemia and prolonged use of certain acid-reducing medicines can contribute to deficiency.
7. Why appropriate blood tests and medical advice are important before starting supplements.
Practical advice: Include reliable B12 sources such as dairy products and fortified foods if they suit your diet. If you have a confirmed deficiency, take advice on treatment and supplementation. Eating B12-rich foods alone may not correct a deficiency caused by poor absorption.
Do not ignore persistent tingling, numbness, balance difficulties or unexplained weakness. Neurological problems can occur even without anaemia, and delayed treatment may lead to lasting nerve damage.
