Habeeb Okikola, also known as Portable, a Nigerian rising star, has threatened the lives of fellow contenders in the upcoming 15th Headies Awards. The organisers issued a statement condemning the controversial musician for endangering the lives of fellow nominees. According to the nomination list, the budding talent is up for Best Street-Hop Artiste and Rookie of the Year. “Those are my awards, anybody else who wins I will ask for them to be killed. I will ask them to kill the person. If the organisers give my award to someone else, they will die,” he said in Yoruba. “No go give my award to another person, he go die o,” Portable had threatened. Smooth Productions reported the disturbing footage to the police in response to his statement. The musician was also warned to recant his statement and apologise in writing to his coworkers.
