Day 7 of our summer Europe road trip: UK → Germany → Switzerland → France → Italy → Austria. Some places don't just impress you — they humble you. Chamonix, Day 7, was one of those days. We rode the Montenvers train to the Mer de Glace, France's largest glacier, and walked into an ice cave carved straight into it — the ice groaning under us, ancient and alive. Then up the Aiguille du Midi cable car, one of the highest in the world, straight into thin air at 3,842m. Mont Blanc towering ahead, a sea of jagged peaks and snow in every direction, clouds drifting below our feet. Up there, you stop feeling like the main character. You're a speck on a ridge of rock that's been standing since before humans existed, and it doesn't care that you showed up.
