So, we took Nell's advice to go confer with Hachi... and found a bunch of overpriced and under-explained stuff in there. I don't even know the true value of this arbitrary currency, I'm not spending it here like this! ...though I'm not even sure if those map cases are all that much of a volume discount, or perhaps they're just inflated categories to unlock more maps to be bought a la carte. (The world may never know, as I'm too stingy to find out anytime soon!) Besides that, Hachi has some interesting flavor text when you exit and enter his shop... some of which was an interesting suggestion we re-visit our Field Training, only to find... what?! Nell's got something else after all? That seems... really weird. Why would you even do that? (Plus, is it okay for us to ignore the war we started for Orange Star's liberation? ...what am I saying, of course it is! Training is a free action and a million dead soldiers is only a statistic!) --- Lesson 14: Special Intel Actually, calling this much of a "Field Training" mission would be a bit of an overstatement... mostly, Nell will explain what these heretofore unseen menu options and unusual buildings are for... as well as a quick peek at all the things they can build for us. Surprise, they're just the units we've already seen before because of all our training! (But at least now we know the value of a Battleship!) The other thing that's arbitrarily taught here is how to use the fact that we can specify unit movement paths manually, we can potentially avoid ambushes in the fog of war... uh... nice, I guess? It'd have to be some really specific knowledge of enemy positions, though. I'm not saying it'll NEVER come in handy, but it's pretty specific and not necessarily the best method for teaching us about this. Though, as a side effect, it teaches us something more interesting... or at least I think so, anyway. If you keep moving and canceling moves in the fog, you'll still use up fuel. This might seem weird, but it has a functional purpose. If you wanted to, you could keep making moves to pass through tiles and then cancel the move before accepting it in order to effectively "comb" the darkness for hidden units without penalty. I mean, you still CAN do exactly that, but the fuel cost could be severe if you were particularly thorough about it... Also, it's not entirely true that Nell had nothing else to teach us... she also confusingly taught us how to soft reset the game, presumably because we can't Yield, only get an explanation for what the Yield command does... except we can still use the bottom option to exit back to the menu, which would have the same effect as a soft reset as far as the game's concerned, just with the benefit of the player not being kicked back out to the opening and title screen... still really weird that she would advocate sending us to such lengths. Fun side note, I've actually seen claims by some that doing this would actually "reset" as in "erase" the game data... which... is an interesting interpretation of what Nell actually said, but I can see how it might strike some people as ambiguous enough after all that Field Training not to want to bother trying it out... although the soft reset code is fairly universal, even catching on by convention to many non-Nintendo titles. (Don't be afraid, though, the ACTUAL save data erase "code" is much more particular and involved, as seen in my original video in this upload series.)
