According to reports, former jailer Santoshini Das had alleged that her signature was forged in the jail minute book and that entries in the gate in-out register were manipulated. Roul had approached the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail, but the plea was rejected and interim protection from arrest was withdrawn. He was subsequently produced before the Tangi JMFC and sent to jail custody.
